another four days. and here is a look at san francisco side of the bridge also void of traffic. that is scheduled to happen by 5:00 a.m. tuesday. let's begin our coverage with look at time lapse video you won't see much of a change this in this video. but we're now 22 hours into the project with up to four and a half days before the new bridge opens. we're live now with a late update from caltrans. >> the toll plaza approach here is basically an asphalt truck parking lot now for new paving here. this is not a part of the new bridge property. but won't it be nice to have a new approach to the land?

everything has been going swimmingly so far. work during the closure can be divided into three main projects. demolition, come police of the road and grinding, paving and striping. that is about it work is progressing well. we have not had hick yupz or hitch autos a westbound approach is on the way to being gone. trues are starting on the bridge and working back towards oakland. this section has to go to make room for connecting the new bike path running along the outer edge scheduled to open tuesday at noon. the new road surface sk prepared and lower deck more than half done. paving we'll complete tomorrow followed by wayne stripping. striping is a big part of what's happening over the closure, 1.2 million square

feet will be ground or torn up, and 14,000 tons asphalt brought in to pave. the trucks have special privilege autos during morning commute hours they're using 580. no other cuts are allowed on 580. >> there are 400 workers on the bridge that day. >> construction schedule has something called breathing room in it. there is a slim chance we're not going take tuesday morning openings. >> so the only back up this evening at the bay bridge is the as fault trucks lined up and ready to deliver they're coming to pleasanton. chp tells us a 25-30 minute commute.

>> thank you. >> we have our cell 7 camera on the freeway. dick that does appear to be the approach here, how sit looking? >> it is the approach to the san mateo bridge coming out of foster city. this remains the hot spot. i can tell you it took me and laila was right, 30 minutes to go from 101 over the bridge tolt toll plaza things haven't changed too much here as i came back to repeat the trip. still bumper to bumper coming out of foster city. good news is that traffic is thinning there moving maybe 25, 30, 35 miles per hour.

commuters and newcomers elected public transit. there has been a steady stream of passengers and it doesn't appear there will be a record setting day. bart carried 420,000 passengers. projected to handle 100,000 fewer riders today. that is a good indication some riders decided to work from home. some parking lots are half empty this, can handle 200 vehicles. it's unlikely people were taking long commutes long holiday weekends rather than do this commute. foot traffic in the financial district seem to be less than normal which@$m isn't good outside of the hyatt regency famous wayne has been here 30 years projecting that the bay bridge closure will hit him in the wallet. >> nid ni idea how much money you can lose if it's dead like

hour to leave san francisco to head to highway 92 and another half hour across the bridge so packed conditions now. and i've got your full commute for this afternoon coming up in just a little bit. >> thank you. well werk have breaking news we're following in southern california now. take a look at this, a flash flooding in san bernardino county in riverside. riverside city college closed, there are reports of mudslides inland efrl yir area, they've had heavy rain there causing this unexpected flooding. >> high school football being canceled this weekend ask travelers opting out of weekend get away plans because of the rim fire burningtaz$ ner yosemite. last report it was 192,000 acres. 300 square miles, 30% contained with firefighters setting backfires inside yosemite national park south of the hetch hetchy reservoir.

tim? >> there is still smoke when you look south towards the fire from here. but rim fire hasn't moved any closer from, say, last night at this time. it would appear that crews now have the upper hand. containment on the rim fire sup to 30%. evacuation advisory for the community is now lifted. several miles from here we caught up with ground crews setting those backfires that have proven to be so productive. the weather is helping as well. it's cooler it's not windy at all. and it's clear, so helicopters are here. so if it seems strange to set fires well, trying to control a big fire, well, it's a valuable tool.

wlom they love. >> a ned ral appeals court upheld a law banning gay young people from getting psycho therapy aimed at turning them straight saying the ban on conversion therapy does not violate the free speech rights of counselors or patients but save california.com issued this statement saying the law quote locks molested children into homosexuality and tramples god given rights of parents to act in the best interests of children. the law is the first of its kind in the u.s.. new jersey has now passed one as well. >> the federal government announced today it will not block laws in colorado and washington which have legalized marijuana. in a memo to prosecutors the department of justice outlined eight priority areas for"=ç enforcing marijuana laws including keeping pot out of hands of minors preventing profits from going to criminal operations and keeping marijuana out of states where it's currently illegal. the harborside health center is the lashlgest provider of

reason why they can't meet 5:00 a.m. tuesday deadline to reopen the bridge. it is a monument effort to make it happen 400 workers working 24 hours nonstop to get the bridge ready for trafrk. >> we're seeing impact of the bridge closure on freeways let's turn first to laila working double duty for us with an update. >> it's monument efforts to get home today. we've got a live picture over 101 through san mateo towards the bridge now your headlights now smrks people are making that skip down to dunbarton bridge. if you go to the dunbarton it's moving at top speeds.

and then, that is heavy traffic out there 30 minutes into an eastbound direction. taking a look now we're seeing improvement out here, this is a look towards 101. northbound direction will be your taillights. you can see that shaded area there because of the trees we're looking at traffic picking up about tam tam drive. to continue up to 580 going to be clearer however, heavy traffic out of the city and let's go to our waze app out there. they're saying it's al @ a complete stand still. so two miles per hour looking at heavy back ups coming away from vanness. lincoln looking well. so bumper to bumper traffic out there. you can track your traffic with abc 7 waze app.

hastings committed several offenses against a 15-year-old boy. i team confirmed sfpd launched an investigation against hastings shortly after his arrest. >> deliberations in the case of an exdanville police officer accused of setting up phony drunk driving stings came to an unexpected halt today. prosecutors accuse him of helping an investigator set up drunk driving busts in exchange for cocaine. deliberations stopped this morning when one juror who spoke english as a second language admitted he had trouble understanding the jury instructions. the juror was replaced with an alternate and deliberations started this afternoon. >> the state of california is now investing tens of millions of dollars for a campaign about an issue many have been trying to ignore. mandatory health insurance. >> nobody will be denied
